75-Minute Program

Course Description

In an effort to encourage positive relationships, this interactive program focuses on three communication styles: aggressive, assertive and passive. Students participate in a role-play activity that includes typical problems young teens face today. Discussion encourages students to recognize unsafe situations and to act responsibly.

Goal

Students will appreciate various communication styles and understand the need for personal safety.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify passive, assertive and aggressive communication styles.
  • Practice assertive behaviors.
  • Recognize body language as a form of communication.
  • Interpret warning signs of potentially dangerous situations.
  • Demonstrate effective behavioral responses to potentially unsafe situations.
