Grades 7–8
60–90 Minute Program

Course Description

Students engage in a variety of activities aimed at learning about and improving their self–esteem. Components of self–esteem, positive self-talk, and self–esteem’s impact on overall health are covered. A role-playing game with choices and other activities are used to reinforce the message.

Goal

Students will understand factors which influence self–esteem and will appreciate the importance of positive self–esteem. Students will also understand ways to improve self–esteem in themselves and others.

Learning Objectives

  • Define self–esteem.
  • Identify ways that self–esteem relates to overall health.
  • List conditions that have a positive or negative influence on self–esteem.
  • Describe how an individual can enhance self–esteem.
