It’s Not Cool to Be Cruel

Grades 6–8
60–90 Minute Program

Course Description

This dynamic program will engage students, helping them to develop empathy and respect for others. Group work, music and video allow students to find their strengths. Students define and recognize bullying while role-playing options they can use when they find themselves in a bullying situation.

Goal

Students understand the physical and emotional cruelty that can be inflicted by bullying and violence. Students also learn to appreciate their own differences and the differences of those around them.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop skills to become compassionate, caring and cooperative.
  • Recognize the need to develop empathy for others.
  • Identify positive and negative behaviors and actions.
  • Explain how to be part of the solution rather than the problem.
  • Give examples of how students can have a positive impact in their classroom and school.
