HIV Disease

Grades 5 & 6

*This program is an additional 30 minutes. It can be added to the Life Begins or the Teen Transitions Programs for an additional $1.00 per student. This makes a two hour program at a cost of $4.00 per student.

Goal

Students learn the basic facts about HIV Disease while dispelling common myths that often lead to confusion and fear.

Objectives

  • Define HIV Disease.
  • State the connection between the immune system and HIV Disease.
  • Identify ways HIV Disease is and is not spread.
  • Explain effective ways to protect themselves against the spread of HIV Disease.
  • List ways to show compassion towards a person infected with HIV Disease.
