Healthy Relationships

Juniors – Grades 4–6

Course Description

This fun and thought–provoking class satisfies the Healthy Relationships badge. Scouts explore some simple dynamics of human relationships and communication. Using role–play, brainstorming and hands–on activities, Scouts learn the importance of healthy relationships with family and friends. Role modeling, positive communication and coping with difficult choices are also examined.

Goal

Scouts develop skills that help to form positive relationships.

Learning Objectives

  • State importance of relationships as part of overall health.
  • Recall that feelings, behaviors and relationships change during puberty.
  • Discuss ways to improve communication with family members.
  • List characteristics of a good friend.
  • Review skills necessary to make and maintain friendships.
  • Explain importance of assertive communication skills in all relationships.
