Juniors – Grades 4–6
90 Minutes

Course Description

Girl Scouts will explore ways to incorporate physical activity that's fun into their daily lives. The importance and benefits of lifetime physical activity are discussed. Basic components of fitness, such as stretching muscles and aerobic activity, are demonstrated and practiced. Groups will be moving, stretching and having fun!

Goal

Scouts realize the value and enjoyment gained from daily physical activity.

Learning Objectives

  • State physical and mental benefits of regular physical activity.
  • Discuss components of fitness including aerobic conditioning, muscular strength, stretching and posture.
  • Practice simple aerobic activities, stretching and muscular toning.
  • Consider importance of proper footwear for skeletal support.
  • Begin to set personal fitness goals and analyze obstacles that keep scouts from attaining fitness.
