Be Ready

Bear Cubs – Grade 3

Course Description

In this program, Cub Scouts learn and practice first aid for cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures and fainting. Several emergency situations are discussed and appropriate actions are demonstrated. Participants learn how to put together a first-aid kit and learn what to do in the case of a poisoning or fire emergency. Cub Scouts also practice the skills needed to get help in an accident.

Learning Objectives

  • Practice proper first aid for cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures and fainting.
  • Design a first-aid kit.
  • Make a list of items included in the kit and show how each item is used.
  • Tell what to do if there is an accident at home such as a fire or an accidental fall.
  • Identify common poisons around the home and discuss poison prevention and first aid.
  • Recognize important fire safety rules and demonstrate what to do if you or your clothes catch on fire.
