Our Mission

The Ruth Lilly Health Education Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide inspiring health education through innovative presentations that promote and reinforce healthy lifestyle choices for children and adults.

Our tag line— teaching health because lives depend on it — further conveys how closely we believe the quality, productivity and enjoyment of life is tied to good health.

We are dedicated to the promotion and development of healthy lifestyles through responsible decision-making and progressive education. Wellness is stressed not only to prevent disease but to enrich the quality of living.

Recognizing that primary education of the child is nurtured in the home, religious and school settings, the Center aims to serve as a supplementary health education resource for children and to encompass the adult community by providing programs for persons of all ages. The RLHEC seeks to be a catalyst for cooperative efforts among the home, school and greater community to promote good health.

Awards

The Ruth Lilly Health Education Center has been recognized both locally and nationally for our excellence in health education, receiving several prestigious awards. This includes being named the Health and Hospital Corp. of Marion County's Not–for–Profit Public Health Star of the Year in 2001, and receiving the National Association of Health Education Centers' Richard B. Rush Award for Outstanding Innovation by a Health Education Center in 2003.
